Auburn Area Chamber of Commerce

Established in 1925, the Auburn Area Chamber of Commerce has been serving the communities of Auburn, Algona, Pacific and unincorporated south King County for 82 years.

The Chamber is a private, not-for-profit, member-supported, volunteer-led organization.  Our primary purpose is to focus and direct the resources of the business community to maintain and expand commerce in our region.

The Chamber has 550-plus business partners and is governed by a 21-member Board of Directors.  The professional staff consists of three full-time, one part-time employee and three contractors who carry out the program of work as established by the Board.

Programs and Services

The Auburn Area Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with Green River Community College and the Small Business Administration established the Regional Enterprise Center in 2001.  This full-service business resource facility houses the Chamber's office, Visitor Information Center, economic development programs, Leadership Institute of South Puget Sound, Educational Foundation, and meeting space for community groups.  Come in and see it for yourself.

Auburn Area Career Conference

This annual event matches over 300 area high school juniors and seniors with 50 regional employers for a day of real and practice job interviews and career counseling.  Motivational speakers and informational break out sessions regarding career opportunities round out the event.  Now in its ninth year, this program, serving six area high schools from three school districts, has received kudos for the opportunity it affords both students and businesses alike.

Government Affairs

Annual programs include Chamber Day in Olympia; the South Sound Chamber Coalition (a business advocacy group); the development of Legislative/Business agendas; issue management; E-mail alerts; and other efforts directed at maintaining a business-friendly environment in the state.  Also includes partnerships with the city and county to establish the vital infrastructure needed to retain, attract, and grow business in the greater Auburn area.

Community Marketing

The Chamber and City of Auburn work together to attract new investment in Auburn, and our economic development efforts have paid off.  During the last decade residential growth was up 21.8 percent, 500-plus new businesses opened, and 7,595 new jobs were created.

Tourism Marketing

Currently the Chamber is leading our lodging, restaurant and entertainment businesses to serve on the City's Tourism Board.  These efforts include the establishment of a local room tax to fund future programs; the publishing of Auburn's first tourism and visitors' guide; web page and newspaper advertising, and a Visitor's Information Center at the Chamber's new Enterprise Center and office.
