Community Needs During COVID-19 Outbreak

During this challenging time, the need in our communities has increased substantially as small business owners, workers and their families have been especially hard hit by the economic implications of necessary COVID-19 closures and response efforts. There are still essential non-profit and community organizations working hard to meet the increasing need in our communities. But, they need your help!

Auburn Public Schools Foundation

Auburn Valley Humane Society:  The animal shelter is currently operating on limited capacity and by appointment only, from 12-4 pm daily. The AVHS Thrift Store is remporarily CLOSED. For more information, call 253-249-7849.

Cascade Regional Blood Services:  The supply of available blood is reaching critical lows. It is SAFE to donate blood, and donations are still essential to our region's health care system. Please schedule a donation time today. CLICK HERE to learn more.

City of Algona Police DepartmentThe police department is working with Home Town Community Services to provide hygiene kits to seniors and those in poor health that are unable to make it to the store. Police will also be conducting checks on senior citizens. Contact the police department if you, a family member, neighbor or friend are over 60 and would like a home check. Help Northwest Food Bank:  The food bank is currently operating on shortened hours due to a decreased supply of food and volunteers. The food bank is open Monday-Saturday, 1-3 pm. To ensure adequate social distancing only two people will be permitted in the food and clothing bank at any time. For more information, contact Dr. Brass at 206-227-5977.

The Auburn Food Bank:  The food bank and shelters are in need of donations, including hand sanitizer, disinfecting wipes, blankets, cup of soup, instant oatmeal, cold cereals. The food bank is open regular hours (M-T-Th-F, 9 am - 1:15 pm). All food will be pre-boxed for clients and social distancing policies are in place. Shelters remain open. Wesley Lea Hill Senior Living:  The skilled nursing center at Wesley Lea Hill is in need of community donations of medical PPE (personal protective equipment), including masks, gloves, gowns, shoe covers, etc.). If you have unopened PPE equipment to donate, call 253-876-1161 or email [email protected]
