Today, on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, we remember the great work and extraordinary lessons taught my a man taken much too soon, but who left behind an invaluable legacy of advocacy and service.

MLK Jr. once said: "Everybody can be great because anybody can serve."

And, today, in honor of King, people across the United States joined together to participate in the National Day of Service, giving back in untold ways to their communities through service projects and volunteer opportunities. Community members here in the Auburn Area also joined in giving back!

At Fenster Nature Park in Auburn, the city partnered with Mid-Sound Fisheries Enhancement Group and Green River Coalition to host a community service project, inviting community members to join them in planting trees to promote salmon conservation. The goal of the project was to help improve water quality in the Lower Green River and, ultimately, help salmon and orcas in our region thrive!

How did you honor Martin Luther King Jr. today? Did you participate in the community service project? Did you give back in some other way?
