The CONNECT 2020 Nonprofit of the Year SPOTLIGHT Award was sponsored by the Leadership Institute of South Puget Sound.

The SPOTLIGHT Awards Program is an annual initiative of the Auburn Area CONNECT Chamber of Commerce that recognizes businesses, nonprofits and community leaders in the Auburn Area, who serve the community and, through their business products/services, employee programs, volunteerism and/or mission statement, benefit and improve the Auburn Area and help our region thrive as a center of economic activity and social leadership in the South Puget Sound. Members of the community are invited each year to nominate a deserving business, nonprofit or individual leader for our SPOTLIGHT recognition. Following the nomination period, Auburn Area CONNECT board members and members of the business community vote on the nomination they believe best represents the spirit of each award.

REVIVE Church 2020 SPOTLIGHT AwardThe Auburn Area CONNECT Chamber of Commerce is happy to recognize REVIVE Church as one of our 2020 Auburn Area CONNECT "Nonprofit of the Year" SPOTLIGHT Award winners.

REVIVE Church is a community church in Auburn led by the pastoral team of Josh and Justine Headley and Mars Flannery.

REVIVE is a place to "Get Energized!" Their mission is simple: "to help people succeed at why they are here." In addition to serving their own members and church community, the REVIVE team seeks to bring hope to our region by working hard and offering support to those in need through their community programming.

To advance their community service, the church developed the REVIVE Cares program, through which they have partnered with other trusted organizations to assist in disaster and emergency relief, food assistance and giving back to the community during the holiday season.

While the COVID-19 pandemic has certainly brought change, REVIVE Church has continued to support the community and its members through these challenging months. When the pandemic struck our communities, increasing the risk of in-person gatherings, REVIVE Church transformed their service offerings. They now offer Sunday worship through drive-in services at The Outlet Collection (Dave & Busters Parking Lot) (Sundays, 9:15 & 11 am) and online via Facebook, Youtube and their personal channel "REVIVE TV" (Sundays, 7, 9 & 11 am / 5 & 7 pm). The group also created a REVIVE KIDS program, released each week, to provide younger members with a "nurturing online virtual environment, interactive lessons and, of course, fun!" Through this innovative approach to generating and sharing live content, REVIVE Church has continued to serve and connect its church members and the wider community, all while ensuring the safety and ability to participate of all members.

As the COVID-19 pandemic took its toll on our community and placed increased stress on local essential workers, the REVIVE Cares team pivoted their efforts to support those in need. Over the summer months of 2020, in partnership with local businesses and community organizations, the church launched the REVIVE Cares Drive-Thru grocery pickup program to help those in need of food assistance. Each Sunday, volunteers from the REVIVE team provided emergency food relief to Auburn Area residents, giving away combination boxes of food that included fresh produce, dairy and meat. Each box contained about 55 lbs of food to help feed a family of four for a week. All of this was provided free of charge to community residents in need of support. As of November 8th, 2020, the REVIVE Cares Drive-Thru program has served 6,300 families over 22 weeks.

As shared in the award nomination statement:

"Their team always has smiles on their faces and have created a positive environment for the community to be a part of in such an unknowing season of life. They are team players and are always looking for opportunities to collaborate on helping the community succeed. They genuinely care about the people they are serving and have made several connections with people that have greatly impacted their lives for the better."

In addition, the REVIVE Cares program has focused on celebrating and thanking our essential workers and leading efforts to bring hope and joy to a community still reeling from both the social and economic impacts of the pandemic. Just recently, the church hosted a community, drive-thru Halloween party, and have previously organized special, socially-distanced events to recognize essential workers (check out this video!), made care packages for Auburn School District high school graduates, and found unique ways to celebrate holidays during the "Stay at Home" period, including a Mother's Day Flash Mob and adopting new moms spending their Mother's Day at the Tacoma General NICU.

Check out this video of the REVIVE Cares team surprising local DoorDash delivery essential workers with some much-earned love and gratitude.

Kacie Bray, Auburn Area CONNECT CEO, presented the 2020 Nonprofit of the Year SPOTLIGHT Award to the ministerial leadership team of REVIVE Church in Auburn earlier this month.
